Meet The Team
LUKE (OWNER)
Luke started off as a volunteer here back on 1st April 2002 when he was 15 years old. His passion for the birds quickly grew. Luke has had his own birds throughout the years and has worked in numerous zoos in the UK. Since returning back to Huxley’s full time, he has been able to use his knowledge gained from working within the industry to help bring Huxley’s forward and give it a fresh new look and feel. Since 2021 we have made significant changes through the ideas brought forward by Luke and his team and we are continuing to make more.

Luke works within the entertainment industry as a Drag Queen.
KAREN (VOLUNTEER)
Karen Has been volunteering here for several years, she is a self confessed owlaholic and can often be seen talking to the teddy owls in our shop. Karen has been vital in helping on the admin side of things both when Julian was alive and after. She is wonderfully organised and tidy that is very helpful within a zoo setting.
FUN FACT
Karen is a qualified Reiki master and Angel therapy practitioner. She likes Owls, Reiki, Owls, Angels, Owls, Reading, Owls, Walking, Owls and Craft work.
CASPER (VOLUNTEER)
Casper has been with us since 2023. Whilst with us he has completed his University Zoology Course and puts all he knows into his work. He is now our lead experiences host, his care for guests and the Birds is priceless and we are proud to have him as a member of our Huxley Family.

As well as our Birds, Casper loves Marine Biology and especially Snow Leopards
JADE (VOLUNTEER)
Jade has been with us since April 2024 and has an amazing work ethic, Jade gets tasks done in the shortest amount of time just bulldozing her way through, a lot of the projects shes taken on and completed in record time are almost unbelievable. Jade has taken to looking after our baby birds as she has a real knack for it.
FUN FACT
Jade is petrified of Spiders, you can often hear a deafening scream around the centre when she's come across one..... or when Luke's jumped out at her.
LIAM (VOLUNTEER)
Liam has been volunteering for a few years now. Liam is so keen to be here that given the chance he’d be here 24/7. Liam assists with the daily maintenance and cleaning of the animals at Huxley’s as well as expertly delivering some flying shows!
FUN FACT
Liam’s hobby is fishing and his favourite type of bird is the Owls.
DANI (ADMIN & SHOP ASSISTANT)
Dani works in our entrance/Gift shop and is always talking to who ever is close by, especially the Parrot in the shop. Her and Pougie can be seen sharing an apple and entertaining visitors as they leave. She helps with admin and bookings so if you want to get yourself onto an experience pop in and speak to her.
FUN FACT
Dani takes part in Medieval Combat sport Buhurt where she wears a full set of Amour and Fights other Knights. The Amour is often out when she's having a disagreement with her partner Mark.
FEARNE (VOLUNTEER)
Our most colourful member of staff, Fearne is a powerhouse of creativity and her kinship with the birds is incredible. Fearne has been a DIY Queen recently and has been working on the Old Catus house.
She loves all animals especially her pet Python Banoffee.
FUN FACT
Fearne creates her own earrings of all the birds here at the Centre if you see her ask her what her new creation is.
ELLA (VOLUNTEER)
Ella has been with us since 2023, she's a very kind soul that wouldn't say boo to a goose but the birds love this about her.
FUN FACT
Ella is very artistic and has even started painting walls around the centre, see if you can spot her work when you come to visit.
JANET (VOLUNTEER)
Janet is another long standing volunteer who has been supporting us. She was helping out with displays and shows years ago back when Julian was around and has come back to continue in her efforts to support us grow. Janet also has her own birds at home and assists with Huxley’s book keeping.
FUN FACT
Janet loves Birds of Prey and Horses and as you can see by the picture, she's happiest when she can combine her two passions.
